Trust is a process, not a badge.
A bill isn't verified just because somebody submitted a screenshot. Every approved campaign needs evidence that the need is genuine, the creditor exists, and the payment route is permitted.
Our proposed five checks
- Applicant: verified email, identity and lawful ownership or authority.
- Document: dated issuer statement showing a currently outstanding amount.
- Creditor: independent issuer contact, legitimate account and payment instructions—not just applicant-supplied bank details.
- Payment route: approved third-party payment and international card eligibility, supported by the provider.
- Outcome: provider transaction record and independent confirmation that funds were allocated to the right creditor account.
Staff review must be documented and sensitive records stored privately. Current uploads are not automatically malware scanned; extra controls are required before wider rollout.
What each status means
- Submitted privately: application received, not publicly verified.
- Documents reviewed: supplied documents checked; no guarantee of payment.
- Creditor verified: independently validated identity and biller account where permitted.
- Checkout approved: specific provider and rightful recipient confirmed.
- Provider paid: transaction confirmed, creditor allocation still pending.
- Credited / settled: issuer allocation independently confirmed.
No campaign should ever jump from a payment-button click straight to Debt paid.
How we protect applicants and donors
Public stories must omit full legal names, account numbers, ID numbers, home addresses and private statements. Donors should never pay a changed bank account received over WhatsApp or direct message. Approved provider links must show a legitimate merchant/recipient before payment. Bored Billionaires does not store card details or act as an escrow.
Verification and payment features are still being established. We do not claim to be a registered charity, debt counsellor or licensed payment institution. Privacy, Terms and full disclosures apply.
